The ingredients in SC Johnson products

Raid® and OFF!® products are specially designed to contain the lowest amount of active ingredient necessary to control targeted insect pests.

Pyrethrins: Science derived from the chrysanthemum flower

One active ingredient in some Raid® products is pyrethrin, an extract of the chrysanthemum flower that has been used for decades due to its immediate effectiveness toward controlling insects. Pyrethrins are found in tiny oil-containing glands on the surface of seed cases inside the flower head. All ingredients in insect control products are reviewed to assess risks to human health and the environment. Only products that pose no unacceptable risks to health and the environment are registered by Health Canada’s PMRA.

Rigorous testing for your protection

All SC Johnson insect control products go through the rigorous review process at Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA). Only products that pose no unacceptable risks to health and the environment are registered by the Agency.

The development process for any given product can take up to ten years to complete and can consist of up to 120 different tests and studies. The extensive testing of all insect control products must follow established scientific protocols, much like the tests for a new medicine or food additive. Our products undergo extensive testing to ensure product effectiveness and to ensure that our products do not pose unacceptable risks to human health and the environment.

It is the responsibility of companies like SC Johnson to conduct the required tests and studies according to the PMRA’s detailed international specifications. For more detailed information, go to http://www.pmra-arla.gc.ca/english/aboutpmra/regprocess-e.html.
